White Lotus Day

Madame Blavatsky died May 8, 1891 and it is called White Lotus Day. In her will, HPB suggested that her friends might gather together on the anniversary of her passing (May 8, 1891) and read from Sir Edwin Arnold's The Light of Asia and from The Bhagavad-Gita. Lotuses grew in unusual profusion one year later. Hence, May 8th became known as White Lotus Day.

I have not missed a year since I found Theosophy. It is a day of remembrance and to thank HPB for all she contributed.

i myself have not missed a year since 1992. my teacher was kind enough to give me a special edition of the magazine Sunrise which was devoted to Madame Blavatsky, i cherish it and read it every May 8th. Sadly the magazine is no longer so i was lucky to be given it as a gift.

How beautiful is that "Light of Asia".....really moving.

it is very moving, and when you light white candles and say it on the anniversary of her death it is a mystical experience.

i cannot wait for the 8th of may, it's going to be such an amazing day. i think maybe the pain of surviving march will be well and truly forgotten come may..

Yes I do. Very simple but to celebrate the day of Madame's passing. I hope to see Madame in the Halls of learning.
